Quantity surveying documents for projects in Ghana

Measured bills of quantities, material schedules and cost estimates for Ghana projects, prepared remotely from your drawings and priced with a stated currency and date basis.

Ghana has one of the more mature construction markets in West Africa, with an established professional structure and a competitive contracting sector in Accra and Kumasi. Documented procurement is normal on larger work, which means a bill of quantities is understood by contractors rather than treated as an obstacle.

Where a client in Ghana engages us, it is almost always for the document side: a measured BOQ or a cost estimate prepared for a project we never visit, or an independent review of a bill prepared by someone else.

What we can deliver for a project in Ghana

Bill of quantities

Measured trade by trade from your drawings, priced in Ghanaian cedi (GHS) or issued blank for tender to local contractors.

Material schedule

Itemised quantities of blocks, cement, aggregates, roofing, finishes and services, staged so purchasing follows construction.

Cost estimate

Elemental cost plan with the rate basis, currency and date stated, and import or logistics costs shown separately.

Review of a bill prepared locally

An independent check on quantities and rates in documentation prepared by another party, before you tender or sign.

  • Documents travel; site attendance does notEverything above is prepared remotely from drawings and written information.
  • Currency and date basis statedMost Ghanaian contracting is priced against measured quantities, so a BOQ is a working document rather than paperwork.
  • Local professional where neededWhere a project requires on-site presence in Ghana, we will say so and not take the instruction.

Cities we receive enquiries from

Most enquiries from Ghana relate to projects in or near Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi, Tema. The location matters for the estimate, because material transport and labour rates vary between regions, so tell us where the site is even though the work is prepared remotely.

What to send

Architectural drawings in PDF or DWG, structural drawings if they exist, the site location, and the standard of finish intended.

What you receive

A measured document in editable and PDF form, with assumptions listed and the rate basis stated.

Turnaround

Typically 5 to 10 working days for a bill of quantities once complete drawings are received.

Questions from Ghana

Do you attend sites in Ghana?

No. Field-based attendance is offered in Nigeria only. For Ghana we prepare documents remotely from drawings and written information, and we will say plainly when a project needs a local professional on site.

In what currency is a Ghana project estimated?

Estimates are normally prepared in Ghanaian cedi (GHS), with the rate basis and the date of the rates stated. If you need the figure in naira, dollars or another currency for comparison, ask and we will show the conversion basis used.

Can you write the documents in English?

Deliverables can be issued in English and, where relevant, in French. State your requirement in the brief and the document will be written accordingly.

Send drawings for a Ghana project

A written fee and delivery date, normally within 24 hours. Documents can be issued in English or French.
